Just Create

My newest creation - Just Create.

Journaling reads, "I'm not sure when I started worrying more about making the perfect page instead of enjoying my favorite hobby. What I do know is that it's time to just let go & have fun again. So what if it takes me hours & hours to create one page and it still isn't perfection. It was fun to just create."

I love this paper by Rhonna Farrer. I used lots of "leftover" letters and random buttons, stickers, and stamps. The white swirl is one of those pipe cleaners you use to make crafts as a kid. I really like the look of it. I'll have to try them out again on another layout. The green chipboard square is the leftover after using the chipboard. Because the photo is layered over the chipboard square I raised the photo, stickers, and buttons using foam tape.

Thanks so much for stopping by to look at my work!

One Little Word

I just discovered One Little Word (OLW)! Every other Wednesday they Word Up (post a new word to inspire you) and you have until the following Friday to link your work. So this is my first time being a wordster (playing along.) Word Up #14 - FULL. I kept trying to think of a different way to use the word full. Full of ......, kept coming to mind but I just wasn't loving it! Finally, I remembered my DH telling me that a full house in cards is 2 of a kind and 3 of a kind and here's what I ended up with.

FULL HOUSE

I used regular playing cards to mat my photos. The background paper has an aged yellow color and I was worried that the white of the cards would be too bright and not look good so I took a dark yellow ink and inked the edges, then stamped them with a textured stamp to make them looked aged and crackled like the paper.

I used the same technique on the KI chipboard banner. The black foam letters are by The Paper Studios. I also used a huge bracer to trace and then cut out the red cardstock. I thought the shape of it would go well with the theme, very spade like.

Again I did the aging technique on the journaling circle.

It was so much fun to play along. I can't wait for the next word!

Thanks for taking a peek!

Makin' a List, Checkin' It Twice

No, I'm not talking about Santa Claus. I'm talking about me and my grocery list writing process! On one of the message boards I frequent, Feeling Scrappy, they post monthly challenges. I enjoy challenges because they give me a push and a focus on what to create! This month's Kitchen Challenge was to make a layout about our grocery shopping. I knew instantly that I wanted to scrap about my 3 step list making habit. I was having a hard time getting inspiration for this but I pulled out some supplies and this just came together.
Journaling: "I have a precise process for writing my grocery list. 1) I write out a weekly menu. 2) I write down all the items I need. 3) I rewrite the list in order of the isles. (Yes, I know the store that well!) John always laughs at my list writing process but what can I say I (heart) lists."

I had fun using lots of the Love, Elsie Lola and Riley stickers!

When the challenge was posted earlier this month I picked up this shopping cart embellishment from Jolee's by You. I wasn't sure if I would actually use it but I think it adds even more whimsical fun to this page!

Now when my children are all grown up and have list writing habits of their own, they will delight in reading about me and my habits. Who knows, maybe they will discover they have the same list writing process as me!

Friday Fun

My sister's DH went out of town this weekend so we got together today to scrapbook. We had a fun, productive day. She got 5 layouts done! I only got 3 done but I'm happy with that.

A Child Spells Love T-I-M-E

All of the paper and a few of the cardstock sticker embellishments are from the Home Again Stampin' Up kit. I used my Cricut to cut lots of fun things for this layout. I used the Going Places cartridge to cut the clock peeking out from behind the pictures. It's no Heidi Swapp clock but I like it!

I used the Opposites Attract cartridge to cut my title. I have to say that is my most favorite cartridge. You have so many letter cutting possibilities on just one cartridge. It's perfect for a title junkie like me!

Collages is a favorite look of mine right now. The 7 Gypsies 97% Complete Stickers are really great for this. I used a few from the T is for Time set here.

What It's All About - You

Yes, another collage. What can I say? They are so fun! Iused some more great accents from the Home Again kit from Stampin' Up.

I used a photo corner from the Home Again Stampin' Up kit as an arrow here.

I haven't taken a picture of my last layout yet but keep checking back, I'll post it soon! It's a fun one with no picture and lots of Love, Elsie products.

Thanks for taking a peek at my work. I love to hear feed back, please, leave a comment and let me know what you think.

My Tuesday Layout

Every Tuesday my sister, Amy, and a few friends come over to scrapbook all day. We enjoy getting together every week. I love knowing that on Tuesday I will for certain get some scrapbooking done, even if it is only one page sometimes. This week I worked on a layout for the monthly contest at Feeling Scrappy. This month's contest was called Shades of Autumn and we were asked to create a 12 x 12 layout that uses the shades of autumn as the color palette. The topic of the layout could be anything as long as those deep fall hues were used! It took me all day but I love how my page turned out. I used lots of fun embellishments including 5 stickers from Daisy D's Gypsy Harvest Scroll cardstock stickers. They were perfect for a layout using the shades of autumn.
Just Jordan journaling - "This year it's just Jordan home with me during the day while every one's at school. I truly enjoy our time together - just Jordan and me!

Some close-ups of the detail and embellishments I used on the layout! I love the flower with the chipboard embellishment and two buttons all collaged together.

I am in love with buttons and ric-rac right now! I love the texture they add to my pages.

Oh, and I got 2nd place in the Shades of Autumn contest!

Guest Designer!

I was chosen to be a guest designer at The Embllishment Studio. I wasn't told which month yet but I am so excited! At The Embellishment Studio they sell kits with wonderful embellishments. You should check out this month's kit. I love the Making Memories Noteworthy Journaling Book and card stock! The ribbon in their kits are the best I've seen. They are discussing the idea of offering goody bags filled with misc. left over kits supplies for only $10. I hope they decide to do this because I can buy those without giving my husband a heart attack!

Deck the Halls!

I decided to alter a clipboard to use as a countdown to Christmas Day. This was my first altered clipboard and I SO love it. At first I was getting frustrated because it wasn't coming together like I pictured it in my head. The more I worked with it, the more I liked it! It took two days, about 12 hours, to totally complete.

It can be hung on the wall or set on a shelf and because it is a clipboard I'm able to change the photo every year. I flip the tags on the left daily, counting down to Christmas Day. Each tag has a scripture reference so we can read the story of Christ's birth throughout the month.

I thought pink being a new "in" Christmas color was weird at first but I love the Lil' Davis glittery pink chipboard letters that I used here. The bling on the Stampin' Up Christmas tree is so cute. Looks like Christmas lights blinking on the tree!I guess I'm getting an early start on decking the halls for Christmas. Thanks for taking a look and don't forget to leave a comment and let me know what you think!
