Proof I Really Do Scrapbook!

Now that the sketch class is over I can share some of my layouts! The sketch class was great. Everyone got so much done and the ladies were so much fun to get to know! I hope to see many of them in the Embellish It class starting May 6th. The Embellish It class will be full of techniques to enhance your scrapbook pages. This four week technique course is designed to teach and challenge you to use all sorts of embellishments on your layouts! If you are looking to add that extra punch to your layouts then Embellish It is the class for you. We will be working with all kinds embellishments giving them all a twist to help you create unique scrapbook pages! If you have never taken an online class I encourage you to try it. The first class I took was the painting class and was very glad I did. It was worth the money, I learned many new techniques, finished quite a few pages, and had so much fun!

I also posted a new layout for the Legacy of Faith challenge. Check it out! In April there will be a prize to give away so be on the look out for more details on A Legacy of Faith.

On to the layouts.

On April first new challenges will be posted on Feeling Scrappy. Come join in on the fun!

Spring is Here!

Yesterday was the first day of spring! Here's a layout to celebrate!
I made this for the Feeling Scrappy's Member of the Month challenge given by Denise Orlick. We had to follow a sketch she posted and use lots of green and yellow. I rarely use those colors together not sure why so it was a challenge for me. I found these pictures of daffodils and thought they would work great with this challenge. Here's how it turned out!

Thanks for taking a peek! Hope you have a wonderful spring!

Ad Inspiration

One of the challenges on Feeling Scrappy is to use an ad as your inspiration for a scrapbook page. This is the ad I ened up choosing.

Here's my page!

I stuck pretty closely to the way things were laid out on the ad. I like how it turned out. Simple but nice.

So the next time you are sitting in the waiting room looking through a magazine remember the ads that catch your eye and use it as the starting point for your next scrapbook page!

I Really Do Scrapbook!

It has been so long since I posted a new page! I really do scrapbook all of the time! Right now I'm working on the sketches for the Sketch-a-palooza class from Feeling Scrappy and I'll be able to post around 20 pages at the begining of next month! I also just finished my first page for the Legacy of Faith challenges and posted it here. I also completed the Book of Me challenge on Feeling Scrappy. I challenged everyone to make a layout about their bucket list - like in the movie "The Bucket List" in which two terminally ill men escape from a cancer ward and head off on a road trip with a wish list of to-dos before they die. Here's mine. It isn't my best work ever but I like that I wrote down a list of things I want to do before I kick the bucket. There's a study somewhere that says if you write down your goals and dreams they are, like, 1000% more likely to come true! It's difficult to see, but on the little circle beside the word "life" it says "make it count." I just love that statement. We really don't know how long we have in this life and it is so easy to be distracted from the important things. This reminds me to remember and make it count!

If you haven't written down your own bucket list, I challenge you to.

BEST

Every month there are great challenges on Feeling Scrappy! This layout was made for the What's the Word challenge. The word this month is BEST. Here's the page I made.

Thanks for taking a peek at my work!

Legacy of Faith (Week 2)

Has anyone started on their Legacy of Faith? A friend bought a book just to use for this! I love that idea and may do the same.
I haven't completed the first challenge yet. It is taking me longer to gather my thoughts for this than I thought but I did find a great scripture to include on my first page. It was in this month's Ensign as part of The First Presidency Message,
“For we labor diligently to write, to persuade our children, and also our brethren, to believe in Christ, and to be reconciled to God; for we know that it is by grace that we are saved, after all we can do. …
“And we talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ, we prophesy of Christ, and we write according to our prophecies, that our children may know to what source they may look for a remission of their sins” (2 Nephi 25:23, 26).
Nephi was referring to why he kept a record, for his children and brethren. I felt it expressed why I want to keep a record. For my children. So they can know of my testimony of Christ, "to persuade [my] children to believe in Christ, and to be reconciled to God, that [my] children may know to what source they may look for a remission of their sins"

On to week two.
All day today I was thinking of what to post as our focus for week two. Many words and ideas came to mind but one stood out, Faith in Every Footstep. You could scrapbook about a time (or times) in your life when you had to rely on faith. Maybe include scripture verses that stengthened you, songs that brought you peace, people that encouraged and supported you, whatever helped you have the faith you needed to carry on. You could scrapbook about how you have faith everyday, in every footstep. Is there something you do everyday to keep your faith strong? Scrap about it and share your experiences with your children and grandchildren.

When you finish your Legacy of Faith projects be sure to post a comment and link us to your blog or site so we can be inspired by your creations. I can't wait to see what you create!

Legacy of Faith

On my last scrapbook page I posted, "If It Weren't For Change We Wouldn't Have Butterflies," I included in my journaling some of my personal testimony of my Savior, Jesus Christ and it got me thinking, that is what I want to leave my posterity, my testimony, a legacy of faith! It hit me, duh, that is why we are asked to keep journals. What is a scrapbook? A journal with pictures. I started searching the Internet for ideas on religious scrapbooking and one of my favorite finds was Patter Cross' blog Triple the Scraps where she posts Scripture Challenges. She focuses on one word each week and searches for verses with that word, then alters a card using them as inspiration. I just love the idea! Searching the scriptures for verses to use on scrapbook pages, what a great way to get me motivated! I decided I want to do something like this each week. I wanted to be sure to include my scrapbook buddies so I'll be posting on my blog each Sunday a different spiritual focus for a scrapbook page each week. Maybe a word or topic that I heard at church that got me thinking. Maybe a quote I find while planning my lessons. These will be powerful and meaningful pages for us to create, but, most importantly, for our children and grandchildren who will flip through these pages and, hopefully, the Spirit can witness to them what we wrote is true. I hope some of you will join in on these challenges! If you do, please, post in the comments with a link to your scrapbook page so everyone can be inspired by what you created.

For my first challenge I want to start with my conversion story. Something I know is very special and personal to each of us. I grew up going to church but I still have my own conversion story...share yours!
Things you may want to include in your journaling:
How old were you?
Was it a slow and gradual process or did you have a defining moment?
Who were the people who influenced you? How so and in what ways?
Was there a defining moment? (a special prayer or experience)
How did you change and how did your life change after?
Your page will mostly be a journaling page. Most of us don't have pictures for this but you may want to consider including photos of you, photos of people who influenced you, or a peaceful picture. I suggest using your own handwriting for your journaling since this is a very special page and deserves the personal touch of your own handwriting even if you think your handwriting is awful! If you have too much journaling to fit onto the pages then use computer journaling but maybe use a font that looks like handwriting to make it look more personal and then sign and date it in your own handwriting.

I'm so excited to get started. I know I will have to take some quiet time to think and remember some of my feelings and thoughts I would like to share. What a great way to "force" myself to take some quiet time to feel the Spirit and the love of my Savior!
